The accident happened last Tuesday around 7.30 pm when Mr Smith was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle.

As he was travelling along the road he collided with a Nissan Micra car driven by a local woman. The emergency services arrived at the scene of the crash and adminstered emergency treatment to both parties involved in the crash.

Mr Smith was taken to the local hospital, Morriston Hospital, where he later died.

Work Colleagues Left Shocked

The road where the accident happened was closed for a total of 4 hours and police are still appealing for any witnesses who may have details.

Police later confirmed that they thought the Nissan was turning on to another road at the time of the accident.

The manager of the gym where Mr Smith worked, Dawn Bishop, said that Mr Smith had been a popular and hardworking member of staff and that she had seen and spoken to him only a short time before his fatal accident.

She said: “I just can’t believe it, he was a great guy, very professional and got along with everybody. Our thoughts are just with his family.”

The owner of the club where he worked said that the staff were ‘dumbstruck’; by what had happened. John Burns said: “He had only been with us for about four months, but he had made a huge difference.”

Fatal Motorcycle Accidents

Fatal motorcycle accidents are unfortunately not unusual on Britain’s roads. Bikers are often more vulnerable road users for many different reasons. Some fellow road users fail to spot motorcyclists when turning, defective roads can be more harmful for bikers and the lack of protection on a motorbike also means there is more likelihood of a serious injury should a road traffic accident occur.
