The amount of accidents on a road from Crewe to Nantwich has given rise to a review that will investigate safety concerns and include a public consultation.

During the past few weeks there have been a number of accidents on the A534 through the town of Wistaston. Local councillors as well as Cheshire East leader, Michael Jones, have got together to discuss the problems raised which include both reported and unreported road accidents.

Cllr Simon said: “It is a very busy road, running through a built up residential area. It has a speed limit of 40mph and the perception of many residents is that this is often exceeded, in particular, during the hours of darkness when many of the incidents occur.”

She added that many local residents had asked for their help stating that they are worried about their quality of life. Another councillor, Cllr Jacquie Weatherill, said that both her and her fellow councillor are delighted that something is finally being done and acted upon.

One resident said that he was particularly pleased about the new review and that he and his wife had helped with a traumatic road accident outside their home in the past.
