A woman exiting a bus in Derbyshire was collided into by a car and became crushed between the two vehicles in a road accident yesterday afternoon.
As she was leaving the bus on Princess Way, the woman in her forties was hit by a Renault Kangoo and was trapped for over an hour until emergency services helped her free and air lifted her to hospital.
An elderly person on board the Renault was cut out of the vehicle and taken to Burton’s Queen’s Hospital, the driver also went to hospital with facial injuries, according to police. The road was sealed off immediately following the accident.
Suffered Multiple Injuries
The bus passenger’s injuries are reported to be damage to her ribs, pelvis and chest and are not thought to be life-threatening.
“A woman sustained chest injuries and was airlifted to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.” said a police spokesperson.
