A man has been killed following a motorbike accident in Buckinghamshire. Jeremy Edwards was riding home from work, just days before celebrating his 53rd birthday when his Honda CBR bike collided with a rock abandoned in the middle of a High Wycombe carriageway.
Mr Edwards was found lying in the middle of the road by a passer-by just after the accident and was later pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday 7th October.
The investigation into the accident is still in the early stages but it has been revealed that the concrete block may have been left there deliberately. Police said it appeared as if a large rock had been ‘placed’ in the middle of the road somewhere from 6.30 am on the morning of the accident.
Head of Thames Valley Police’s Road Death’s Investigation, Paul Winks said: “If anyone has any information about this. It doesn’t matter how insignificant, please come forward as it might be vital to our investigation.”
Motorcycle organisation outraged by the accident
In addition, the Motorcycle Action Group has highlighted its’ ‘disgust’ at the behaviour of whoever is responsible for leaving the boulder in the road. A spokesmen for the MAG said that Daws Hill Road where the accident happened was used frequently by many bikers.
President of the group, Ian Mutch said: “Bikers face enough hazards on the roads without having to contend with behaviour like this. An unhealthy culture has evolved in this country, which encourages the idea that people are no longer responsible for their decisions.”
Mr Edwards was a keen motorcyclist and belonged to Goldwing Owners Club and Thames Valley Wings. He leaves behind his wife Kim who he was married to for 30 years.
