An 86 year old woman from Northamptonshire has suffered from a broken neck after the bus she was travelling on came to a sudden halt.
The woman was sitting at the front of the bus, returning from a game of bingo, when the collision happened.
As the bus came to an abrupt stand still, the woman was thrust forward and she hit her head on a metal bar that was directly in front of her. She was left in a semi-conscious state on the floor.
Two other passengers came to help her. One woman used her scarf to aid the grandmother’s bleeding head. The woman said: “After hitting my head, I fell to the floor. I’m not sure if I was fully conscious, but I certainly remember the pain in my head and neck. The bus driver didn’t know what had happened and continued driving, but thankfully a passenger shouted that I was hurt and the driver pulled over.”
An ambulance arrived when the bus stopped and the pensioner was taken to Northampton General Hospital where it was confirmed she had a broken neck. She received stiches on her forehead and nose.
