A multi-vehicle accident on a dangerous stretch of road in Peterborough has left two people seriously injured.
The accident happened on the A47 when a lorry, two cars and a transit van collided. The 72 year old lorry driver from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne suffered minor injuries in the incident.
A 49 year old man, who was driving a Ford Fiesta, was seriously injured and taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where his injuries have been described as serious but stable. The driver of a Renault Master was a 25 year old man from Wolverhampton who also suffered serious injuries.
A 49 year old man from Peterborough who was driving a Ford Transit, was also involved in the collision, his injuries are reported to be ‘minor’.
Following the accident, police have asked for anyone to come forward if they know anything about what happened. PC Simon Burgin said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles prior to it, to call the police.”

An MP from Peterborough, MP Stewart Jackson said that there was a feasibility study being carried out on the A47 adding that safety issues connected with this road were now a ‘priority’. He said: “One more death on the road is one more death too many.
Cambridgeshire MP, Shailesh Vara said: “Yet again we have another accident on this very dangerous stretch of road. I will redouble my efforts to ensure the relevant funding is forthcoming as soon as possible to make this treacherous stretch of road safer.”
