A new campaign organised by road safety charity, Brake, and a school in Swindon have highlighted the importance of being visible on the roads in a bid to minimise road accidents.
Brake’s mascot, Zak the Zebra held an assembly with all the children from Robert le Kyng Primary School to tell them more about what they should do to stay safe. He spoke to the children and handed out hi-visibility vests which had been donated by local car dealership, Pebley Beach.
The head teacher from the school said that it was a great chance to inform children about road safety issues specific to the school , like making sure pupils use the lollipop man when they cross the road and teaching about the dangers of using a mobile phone when walking on the roads around the school.
Money Raised Will Help Road Accident Campaign Work
Rich Andrew from Brake said the money raised by Pebley Beach and the school will be ‘crucial’ in helping to fund the work it does in assisting those who have lost a loved one through a road accident and campaigning for safer roads in the UK. The owner of the car dealership said the company wanted to demonstrate how dedicated they were to children and road safety.
Mr Andrew from brake added: “The money donated by Robert Le Kyng Primary School and Pebley Beach will be crucial in funding our work supporting people bereaved or injured by road crashes, and campaigning for safer roads in communities across the UK.”
