Brain Injuries Suffered From Motobike Injury

Biker, Shazzard Khan suffered serious brain injuries which has left him with a personality disorder and severe lack of mental ability.

The accident happened in April 2007 shortly after Brazilian-born biker, Paulo Barbossa had purchased his uninsured Yamaha motorbike from internet auction site, eBay.

Mr Barbossa was travelling along a rural road in Stratford when he met Mr Khan and collided head-on at a combined speed of approximately 160 mph. Mr Barbossa was pronounced dead at the scene and Mr Khan was rushed to hospital.

Motorcyclist Uninsured At Time Of Accident

An inquest following the accident found that the biker at fault was Mr Barbossa. Because he was uninsured at the time, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau has paid the settlement figure to Mr Khan.

Compensation Awarded To Provide A Degree Of Peace Of Mind

Details of the amount awarded by London’s High Court have not been revealed but Mr Justice Eady said that he hoped the sum would give Mr Khan ‘a degree of peace of mind’.
